Oggi è la giornata internazionale della libertà di stampa.Abbiamo intervistato il giornalista Giorgio Ruta su come il suo lavoro sia cambiato dopo il COVID-19. La situazione pandemica, specialmente quando si pensa al lockdown, ha messo in luce la necessità di avere informazioni accurate e verificate.In una risoluzione votata il 17 aprile 2020 gli eurodeputati hanno fatto emergere un grave problema relativo alla disinformazione sui temi legati alla sanità pubblica, segnalando inoltre l’esigenza per i cittadini di avere accesso a informazioni accurate e verificate: “Una stampa indipendente e con finanziamenti adeguati a disposizione è necessaria per la democrazia: libertà di espressione, libertà di stampa e pluralismo sono sanciti nella Carta dei diritti fondamentali dell’UE e nella Convenzione europea dei diritti dell’uomo”.

L’intervista è stata realizzata nell’ambito del progetto Social Communication Forum 2.0, un lungo percorso di condivisione di metodi e buone pratiche tra organizzazioni attive nel sociale provenienti da più parti d’Europa (Grecia Cinergies, Lituania Innoved Lietuva, Polonia Youth of Europe e Italia Maghweb). Il progetto è supportato dall’Agenzia Nazionale Giovani – ANG nell’ambito del programma Erasmus+.


Today is World Press Freedom Day.We interviewed the journalist Giorgio Ruta on how his work changed after COVID-19. The pandemic situation, especially when it comes to lockdown measures, highlighted the need people who staled home to get accurate and verified information.In a resolution voted on 17 April 2020, the members of the European parliament highlighted a serious problem of misinformation on public health issues, also pointing out the need for citizens to have access to accurate and verified information: “An independent and adequately funded press is necessary for democracy: freedom of expression, freedom of the press and pluralism are enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights”.

The interview was carried out as part of the project #SocialCommunicationForum 2.0 project, a long process of sharing methods and good practices between social organisations from different parts of Europe (Greece Cinergies, Lithuania Innoved Lietuva, Poland Youth of Europe and Italy Maghweb). The project is supported by the Agenzia Nazionale Giovani – ANG within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.
